Animal Kindness Workshop

Join us in the GMHS Lobby for our Animal Kindness Workshop! We will be creating Valentine’s Day cards for our homeless pets. We will provide all necessary supplies and registration is not required. All ages are welcome and this event is free to our community.

Kids Movie Night

Join us for a festive Kids Movie Night at the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society on Friday, December 19, from 5:30–8:00 PM! Kids are invited to wear their favorite Christmas pajamas and enjoy an evening of pizza, popcorn, holiday treats, a fun holiday craft, and a showing of Beethoven’s Christmas Adventure! The cost is $25 per child, with all proceeds helping our homeless pets. Recommended for ages 6–12. Advance registration is required. Hot Cocoa, Cookies & A Christmas Tale

Join us at Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society (6620 Jackson Lane, Gloucester, VA) on Wednesday, November 12, at 1:00 p.m. for a special Pet Story Time event!

Enjoy hot cocoa, cookie decorating, and a holiday craft, plus meet Ted Costin, author of “The Cat Who Came Back for Christmas.”

This heartwarming story from Christian Faith Publishing shares a family’s Christmas miracle — when a beloved pet’s spirit returns to spend one last holiday with the people who loved her most.

Fun Fact: The cats featured in this touching book came from GMHS!

The event is free and open to all ages — we can’t wait to celebrate the magic of the season (and pets!) with you.

Trick or Treat!

Join us for a fun-filled afternoon at our Trick or Treat! Enjoy candy and treats, a scavenger hunt, crafts, games, and more while exploring our shelter.

We kindly suggest bringing a donation of a pet supply item to help support our animals in need.

Adopt a Stuffy!

Join us in the GMHS Lobby for Adopt a Stuffy!

Children are invited to choose a stuffed pet, make a collar for their new friend, give them a name, and receive an official adoption certificate. We’ll provide all the supplies—just bring your creativity and excitement!

This family-friendly event is open to all ages, and no registration is required. Stop by anytime between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM on November 15. Donations are kindly suggested to support the pets of GMHS.

Playdough Pets Workshop

Join us Saturday, August 16 between 1:00 PM and 2:00 PM in the GMHS Lobby for a hands-on event! We’ll be making our own playdough pets, plus crafting toys to brighten the days of our homeless animals.

Kids Movie Night

Sign your kid(s) up for our “Dog Gone Trouble” Kids Movie Night! The cost is $25 per child which includes movie, pizza, popcorn, craft, and a visit from shelter pets. 100% of the proceeds benefit the homeless pets of GMHS! Open to children ages 6-12 years old. This is a drop off event. Bring their favorite blanket, pillow, and come wearing comfy pajamas!
