The story behind the Williams Center
As part of their permanent legacy, Dean and Cam Williams funded the Williams Center at the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society. The Center is a gathering place that promotes compassionate care of animals and strengthens the human-animal bond.
The Center’s primary mission is to offer pet-related classes and services to the community. It is a space for fun and community engagement and a retreat for humans and pets to relieve stress through interaction in a warm, welcoming environment.
Additionally, the Williams Center is a gathering place for the community and a temporary safe haven for all pets during times of crisis or emergencies.

Cam & Dean Williams

They had a vision of a space that brings people and animals together to remind us that we’re not alone. A space where connection will take the center stage. A space that will allow GMHS to help shape and teach our future generations the importance of empathy, compassion, responsibility, sharing and understanding — values I know you share.
The new wing will expand community involvement through classes, events, and provide additional vital workspace for staff and volunteers.
Funding for this expansion is made possible by a grant from the Dean and Cam Williams Foundation. The late Cam and Dean Williams were transformative in the life of GMHS through their wise guidance and by giving generously of their time and treasure. This wonderful contribution will continue their legacy of love and service to neglected, abused, and lost animals
